A tour of one of Indiana’s remaining Psychiatric Hospitals
The “new” Auditorium, built in 1939, carries on the tradition of the Assembly Hall. Officially opened in 1940 with a Hammond Electric Organ and Chime Concert, the Auditorium has housed motion picture events, Christmas plays, Indiana University basketball practice, patient-staff basketball tournaments, and even a recent WWF event.
In the basement is a full canteen and recreational area including foosball, Ping-Pong, and pool tables, as well as a retail thrift store. Upstairs contains staff workout equipment. The space is for rent by the general public.
